To
the Unseen Dogs
A
dog on a chain.
a dog on a rope,
alone, on his own,
exists without hope.
He waits and he listens
for someone to come
to bring him inside
to the refuge of home.
A dog on a chain
filled with sorrow and fear
can tangle, can strangle,
but no one will hear.
A dog on a rope,
a dog on a chain,
too hot in the sun,
soaked through in the rain.
He may whine when hes hurt,
he may call, but in vain.
He cant run, he cant hide,
a dog on a chain.
Unseen and unknown,
without love, without care,
paws frozen with cold,
with eyes that despair
Let those with compassion
Bring an end to the pain
of a dog on a rope,
of a dog on a chain!
