DDB Valentine Campaign: Teachers, Students, Youth Groups, and All Individuals --Please Make Valentines!
Last
year, DDB sent over 12,000 Valentine's to chained dogs in the US and
Canada. This year, our goal is to send out over 15,000. We are striving to raise awareness for chained and penned dogs in a positive way...by delivering Valentines, a brochure and a treat coupon to
dogs living outside all over the U.S. and into other countries where we
have representation, such as Canada and England. We need your help to
make Valentines, send in free/reduced cost coupons for dog food/treats,
and by sending in addresses for chained dogs that could use our help.

Foster Dog Thanks You for Your Howliday Sponsorships
To the Angels at DDB,
Hi,
my name is Cody. Tammi (Kinman, Kentucky Area Rep), you were the angel
that freed me from my chain and took me to the vet to have my wounds
taken care of-I will never forget you and the kindness you showed me.I
want to thank DDB for giving me a second chance to find a loving
forever home and for sending me a very generous gift card from PetCo.
as my Christmas present. I'cw been shopping on-line-what fun! On behalf
of all chained dogs, THANK YOU and all your volunteers for being our
voice to tell owners that dogs want to live with their
family-loved, warm, and happy INSIDE it's cruel to leave us outside. My
foster family gave a donation to DDB last night in honor of me, to help
other dogs who need to get off the chain; I hope that helps you in your
mission. I love living inside with people and othe dogs and hope that
one day all dogs will be able to do that. Again, thank you for the work
you do and for my Christmas gift.
With love and respect,
Cody
Dogs like Cody need your support year around. Please consider donating so the next Cody can receive veterinary care and supplies.
See your howliday dogs with their gifts!

From Aubrey Madden Hall commenting on"The Suffering of Those who Watch the Suffering of Chained Dogs":
"My
husband and I used to pass a puppy chained 24/7 on the deck on our way
home...it hurt us everyday. After a while I found out about DDB from
someone at the dog park...I contacted my local rep and she sent some
things to them. Then, I never saw him chained again! That was my first
experience with relief from the sadness of the animal abuse I had seen
daily. First success- thanks to DDB! Growing up there was a chained
husky 2 doors down from me...My heart ached for him, but I was a child
and didn't know there were people out there like DDB. It hurt so much
to see him every day for years on that chain, I didn't have faith that
people could change, but thanks to that first taste of success I
finally have hope that people can change and learn to do the right
thing, but it still hurts to witness these things. "

I'm
so excited! One of my chained dog cases is now a happy ending. Max, a 2
year old black lab who has been braving the Minnesota winter out on a
chain was rescued by the city attorney with a police escort, after
prompting from his wife to help the dog. This was supposed to be a
temporary situation, I was told, but I've had many concerned request
for helping this dog. Last month I gave them a bale of of hay and a
large bag of dog food, on the notion that it was "temporary". Turns out
the attorney and his wife are avid dog lovers and even have placed in
shows with one of their German Pointers (locally and at Westminster and
Eukanuba) who knew, right?
So
now Max is in a great temporary home. I got the vaccination records
faxed to me by the out of town vet and gave it to them. The attorney
invited me for a visit to the house at lunch today. He has 4 large
indoor dogs (new dog friends, can't have enough) and the greatest set
up a dog could ask for. I met Max, again, and got lots of kisses, and
what a happy wagging tail. The attorney's business partner visited Max
today and is at this moment trying to convince his wife to adopt him.
So,
the attorney was educated today about DDB and my work with it. He's
going to visit the web site and look and sample ordinances and
,hopefully, will help me out with introduction to the city council.
I could barely concentrate at work this afternoon through my excitement.
I just had to share with you!
