Freedom for Chained Dogs

Below is the letter I sent to our volunteers - kind of explains a little about what we did. Our event was put together in one week, and we had to chain up on a week night, so we didn’t have a large group, but I was still proud of what we did! We have raised $135 so far too on my link!
I am proud to put a chain around my neck and raise money for this cause – keep up the good work Dogs Deserve Better!

Hello!
I just wanted to send a great big “THANK YOU” your way for your participation at our first Break the Chain Fort Smith!
We had a total of 10 volunteers show up – not bad for the first one, especially with it being on a weeknight, 96 degree heat with 100% humidity, AND rain lurking overhead! We had a lot of people drive by and slow down to read our signs, or honk and give us a thumbs-up! I think we planted a lot of seeds, and if even one person takes the chain off their furry baby or calls if they see a doggy in distress, I would say we were successful!
I am already talking with the director of the Sebastian County Humane Society about teaming up in 2011, so we can have an even bigger and better event! Maybe next year you can wear a chain around your neck with us for 12 hours! J
Remember…there are 621 cities in Arkansas, and only 4 that have anti-tethering laws…Fort Smith is not one of them. We do have animal cruelty laws in place, but not specific to chaining dogs. We have a group of concerned citizens who are trying to change this by writing to our state representatives – if you would like to find out more about this, please let me know, and I will send you information and sample letters, so you can write too!
I have attached that flyer that shows exactly why I am so passionate about this cause and why I support the Dogs Deserve Better charity who sponsor it every year. You can print and pass this flyer on to your friends, so they can be passionate too! : )
Thanks again for your support!
